Yinglin Chenshan Village Stone Mine "Transformation" Ecological Park

Shi Guanyin, Qiufeng Pavilion, Wangyuan Pavilion... A “sky garden” slowly landed at the top of Yingshan Mountain, the highest altitude in Yinglin Town, Jinjiang City. This mountain was originally a stone mine, and in the near future, an ecological park will be built on the top of the mountain for the leisure and fitness of the villagers.

Yesterday, the reporter came to Chenshan Village, about 1 km west of Yinglin Township. At the foot of Yingshan, about 100 meters above sea level, two climbing stone steps have been laid. Ascending to the top of the mountain, an ecological park under construction has come into view. The stone Guanyin, Qiufeng Pavilion and Wangyuan Pavilion in the main attractions have been completed, and construction workers are stepping up construction of other leisure attractions.

The reporter found that there was a mined grotto in the north of Yingshan, and two or three construction workers were laying protective facilities. Standing on the top of Yingshan Mountain, you can see the panoramic view of Yinglin Town. You can see Jinjing and even further.

According to reports, the ecological park started construction last summer. The project is divided into three phases. The first phase has been completed and the construction of the second phase has been started. It is mainly the planning and construction of the cherry blossoms and the improvement of various infrastructures in the park. The third phase is to build a complete ecological park integrating leisure, tourism and education. It is expected to be completed in 2015.

“It is not easy to build an ecological park, but it is very meaningful.” Hong Chaoqun, director of Chenshan Village Committee, said that before the end of July 2012, 80% of the villagers were engaged in stone mining and processing industries. There are more than 20 stone factories of various sizes, and stone has become the main economic pillar of the village. Yingshan is mainly composed of rocks. Due to the exploitation of the stones, the whole mountain has been dug up. Some of the hills have weeds and some are bare.

Hong Chaoqun said that in 2011, Jinjiang City set off a boom in the transformation of the stone industry. For a village that “eats by stone”, it was suddenly “end of the rice bowl” and some villagers were unacceptable for a while. However, after all, the stone industry is high in energy consumption and high in pollution. The roads around some mines are muddy and tidal, and the caves on the mountains have become a major safety hazard. After working together at the town and village levels, the villagers gradually changed their mindset and began to support the village to retreat and build gardens.

“After the completion of the ecological park, these bad conditions will be improved, the environmental outlook of the village will be improved, and the quality of life of the villagers will be improved.” Hong Chaoqun said that the construction of the Yingshan Ecological Park has been restored. Part of the destroyed ecological environment has realized the mountain green. At the same time, the laying of hiking trails and fitness squares has changed the current situation of the village lacking leisure and fitness facilities. At present, Chenshan Village Committee is planning to cooperate with local primary and secondary schools to build Yingshan Ecological Park into an educational base for students' social practice.

For the construction of such an ecological park in Chenshan Village, the Yinglin Town Government is very supportive. It is understood that in order to encourage Chenshan Village to complete the transformation of the stone industry, the town has introduced relevant support measures; for the construction of Yingshan Ecological Park, the town helps create conditions, supports policies and inputs, and assists in planning, design, and construction. And coordinate to solve the problems encountered in the construction.
