"China is carrying out related work on solar power," Liang Zhipeng made the above statement at a seminar on the large-scale development of solar power sponsored by the National Energy Administration and the Asian Development Bank.
At present, China is adopting bidding to vigorously promote the construction of large-scale photovoltaic power plants. In 2009, China organized a tender for the concession project for the photovoltaic power plant in Dunhuang, Gansu Province. According to this model, two 10-megawatt photovoltaic power plant projects have been completed and have been connected to the grid for power generation.
In 2010, China organized 13 tenders for a total of 280 megawatts of solar power projects. Now these projects are starting one after another. Together with the solar power projects approved by provincial, provincial energy authorities in Qinghai, Ningxia and other provinces, the scale of China's solar-powered power plants under construction is about 1 million kilowatts.
In addition, the tender for the 50 MW solar thermal power project in Ordos, Inner Mongolia, has also been completed. Datang New Energy Corporation won the bid and is now preparing for the construction of the project. CPI has also been preparing for the construction of solar thermal power generation projects in Qinghai and Tibet.
Liang Zhipeng said that solar power has entered an accelerated development stage. The global solar power generation has reached 40 million kilowatts, and in 2010 it has increased by 15 million kilowatts. The economic efficiency of solar power generation has increased significantly. Today, the cost of solar photovoltaic power generation is about half lower than it was three years ago. It can be predicted that in the next 5 to 10 years, solar power will become an economically important energy source.
The annual output of photovoltaic solar cells in China has reached 8 million kilowatts, accounting for more than half of the world's total production. However, 95% of production is exported.
Liang Zhipeng said that today, energy and the environment have become a major hot spot in international development. In particular, climate change has become one of the biggest challenges facing humanity and the world is facing. In the future, we cannot rely solely on fossil energy. We must gradually turn to renewable energy-based energy systems.
At present, the price of China's solar power has reached 1 yuan per kilowatt-hour without considering the cost of land. Experts pointed out that this electricity price is feasible under China's actual conditions. It allows us to see that solar energy has great potential to further reduce costs and increase economic efficiency.
Liang Zhipeng said, “I think if we have solar power within 0.8 yuan per kilowatt-hour, then solar power will be developed on a large scale. It will enter the stage of faster development just like current wind power. It needs to be common across the industry.†Efforts to make our solar power more competitive.
