As we all know, there are two major problems with bamboo and bamboo products that are caused by bamboo rot and aphids. Below we mainly discuss how bamboo is preserved and smashed in two aspects.

1) Physical methods

There are mainly high temperature method, water immersion method, smoke method, gas adjustment method, far infrared method, microwave method and ray method. The advantages of these methods are pollution-free and five-residue. The disadvantage is that the treated bamboo or bamboo products may be re-infected with aphids and molds if not properly stored. In addition, bamboo that is cut down in spring is susceptible to insects, and bamboo that is cut down in winter is difficult to be wormed. Therefore, bamboo felling should be arranged in winter as much as possible. Moreover, the bamboo after felling should be transported to the production site for use as soon as possible, or used to prevent insects and mildews.

2) Chemical methods

There are mainly coating methods, dipping methods, cooking methods, fumigation methods, and pressure injection methods. The advantages of these methods are that the anti-mite and anti-corrosion effects are good and the time is long. The disadvantage is that some of the agents are toxic and easily pollute the products and the environment. With the increasing awareness of environmental protection, the environmental protection requirements and standards for bamboo insecticides, preservatives, and anti-mold agents are also increasing. For example, preservatives such as CCA and PCP have been banned in Europe, and CCB and CCF are mainly used. , and preservatives such as ACQ.

In the future, bio-preservative and other efficient, non-toxic or low-toxic bamboo protection technologies will be promoted. The following are some treatment methods for non-toxic or low-toxic bamboo pest control and anti-mite.

1 Borax + benzoic acid + sodium hydrogen sulfite (or sodium thiosulfate) in a ratio of 2:0.7:1, cold soaked or boiled bamboo.

2 Boric acid + alum + sodium sulfite + benzoic acid, the ratio is 2:2:2:0.5, boil the bamboo for 10min and then dry.

3 Borax + boric acid + water, the ratio is 2.4:3.6:100. Boric acid and borax are dissolved in water at room temperature, and bamboo or bamboo semi-finished products are placed in a container for 24 to 48 hours, and taken out and naturally dried.

4 Alum + water, the ratio is 1.5:100. Using the prepared solution, the bamboo that has been cut through the bamboo is placed therein and boiled for 1 to 2 hours. This method is used in bamboo furniture for bamboo decorative parts.

5 Place the bamboo products or semi-finished products in alum saturated solution, immerse for 1 min, remove and dry to prevent corrosion.

Of course, the above methods are only a small part of many anti-corrosion and anti-mite methods, and we have to use them selectively according to different situations.
