This innovative fabric lithium battery has an energy density of more than 450 watt-hours / liter, excellent softness, and can be folded to a radius of less than 1 mm. A typical flexible lithium battery can only be bent to a radius of about 25 mm, and its efficiency is only 200 watt-hours / liter. PolyU ’s research team uses the university ’s patented new technology of polymer-assisted metal deposition to deposit highly conductive metals—copper and nickel—evenly on treated fabrics, such as cotton and carbon cloth, to make conductive fabrics, replacing general The metal foil on the surface of the lithium battery acts as a current collector and improves softness.
The deformation test conducted by the team proved that the fabric lithium battery has extremely high mechanical stability, durability and safety. After repeated folding, twisting at different angles, and irregular crumpling, the battery does not damage its voltage performance; continuous hammering , Cutting and steel needle puncture and other safety tests also prove that the battery can provide a stable power supply for electronic components, and there is no risk of fire or burst.
