High volatile paint gradually withdraws from the Pearl River Delta

High volatile paint gradually withdraws from the Pearl River Delta Recently, the 12th meeting of Guangdong-Hong Kong Sustainable Development and Environmental Protection Cooperation Group was held in Guangzhou. At the meeting, Guangdong and Hong Kong made a comprehensive assessment of the results of the implementation of air remediation from 2002 to 2010, and established the air emission reduction targets for the two places in the next eight years.

According to relevant data, the total amount of four pollutants (dioxide*, nitrogen oxides, PM10, volatile organic compounds VOCs) released in the Pearl River Delta region in 2010 was nearly 3 million tons.

It is reported that the industries that emit VOCs mainly include furniture, printing, surface coating (automotive manufacturing), and footwear manufacturing.

According to the relevant person in charge of the Guangdong Province Environmental Protection Department, “The Pearl River Delta Region is a traditional agglomeration area for printing, coating, furniture manufacturing, shoemaking and other industries. VOC emissions are large. In recent years, the petrochemical industry and automobile manufacturing industry in this region have also developed. Rapidly, the total VOC emissions have been increased.” It is reported that the Pearl River Delta region is accelerating the preparation of VOC industry emission standards and gradually prohibiting the sale and use of highly volatile paints and coatings.

In addition, the State Council has issued the "Industrial Transformation and Upgrade Plan (2011 ~ 2015)", which clearly states that one of the key tasks of industrial transformation and upgrading is to "strengthen independent innovation capabilities and promote industrial green and low-carbon development." Green and low-carbon development may become one of the important indicators of current air emissions.
