Recently, a liquid metal heat exchanger safety experiment platform developed by the FDS team of the Institute of Nuclear Energy Safety of the Chinese Academy of Sciences' Hefei Institute of Physical Science was established. In the first round of experiments completed recently, the hypothetical extreme conditions of the contact of liquid heavy metals with water in lead-based reactors were simulated, and the transient parameter measurement reached microseconds, filling the gaps in experimental data for high-parameter segments in the world. .
The heat exchanger is the core component of the reactor heat derivation. The verification of safety experiments is the only way for its engineering. Under the support of the Chinese Academy of Sciences "Future Advanced Nuclear Fission Energy - ADS Transmutation System" pilot project, the Institute of Nuclear Safety has broken through the liquid metal heavy-duty high-temperature and high-pressure sealing, microsecond transient parameter measurement, and real-time high-speed data acquisition after years of technical research. Other key technologies have independently developed a heat exchanger safety test platform. Its working pressure and temperature are as high as 25MPa and 550°C, respectively, and its parameters are the highest in the world, far exceeding the current internationally similar devices.
The platform can carry out transient experimental simulation of contact between high-temperature liquid metal and high-pressure water under hypothetical failure conditions of advanced reactor heat exchangers, providing objective evidence for the safety evaluation of advanced reactors, and providing important scientific experimental data for the design and construction of lead-based reactors. stand by. The successful construction of this platform marks that China has taken the lead in the field of research on the safety of liquid heavy metal heat exchangers.
